STOOKOLIE 010 works really well in a longdrink with ginger beer or tonic: slowly poured it will float like a dark colossus.

Or take STOOKOLIE 010 straight from the freezer; thick, slow, cold and hot at the same time.

The classic Dark ‘n’ Stormy cocktail, originating from the tropical darkness of the Bermuda Triangle, has even gone gloomier by replacing dark rum with STOOKOLIE 010.

 

Glass: Collins/Highball glass

 

Ingredients:

Lemon juice
Ice cubes
Ginger beer (cloudy & pale preferably, e.g. Loopuyt ginger beer)
1 shot Stookolie 010
Lemon or lime wheel


Recipe:

Fill a highball glass with ice cubes (4 or 5)
Squeeze the juice of a quarter lemon over the ice.
Pour ginger beer in the glass until filled 2/3 or 3/4.
Gently pour a shot of STOOKOLIE 010 letting it float on top. Garnish with a wheel or twist of lime or lemon on the rim.

Often refered to as the first cocktail, originating from New Orleans and concocted by Antoine Amedie Peychaud, spiced up by replacing half of the rye (or bourbon) with STOOKOLIE 010.

 

Glass: Tumbler

 

Ingredients:

Absinthe
Ice cubes
2/3 shot rye or bourbon whiskey
2/3 shot STOOKOLIE 010
Peychaud Bitters
Lemon peel

 

Recipe:
Chill tumbler.
Pour a teaspoon absinthe in the chilled tumbler and coat the entire inside of the glass by rolling it around. Pour out the excess absinthe.
Sweeten rye or bourbon whiskey with a teaspoon sugar. Fill glass with ice cubes.
Pour sweetened whiskey over the ice cubes.
Pour STOOKOLIE 010 over the ice cubes.
Add 3 dashes of Peychaud Bitters.
Discard ice cubes if desired.
Garnish with a twist of lemon peel in the cocktail.

Named for its typical french ingredients - hints of quinine and orange peel - and the added spiciness of STOOKOLIE 010: bitter, sweet and peppered like a French fanny.

 

Glass: Cut glass Coupe

 

Ingredients:
Ice cubes
1/3 shot St. Raphaël Ambré
1/3 shot Picon Amer
2/3 shot STOOKOLIE 010
Orange peel twist

 

Recipe:

Put ice cubes in a tumbler or classic cocktail glass, preferably crystal cut glass.
Add the 1/3 St.Raphaëls, the 1/3 Picon and the 2/3 STOOKOLIE 010.
Garnish with the twisted orange peel.

Glass: Collins/Highball glass

 

Ingredients:
Lime juice
Ice cubes
Bitter tonic
1 shot STOOKOLIE 010
Fresh ginger


Recipe:
Fill a highball glass with 4 or 5 ice cubes.
Squeeze in a quarter of lime.
Pour tonic over the cubes until the glass is 2/3 or 3/4 full.
Stick in a slice of ginger
Gently pour STOOKOLIE 010 shot on top and let it float.

A variation on a Black Russian cocktail but more refined than you might think. It replaces vodka with STOOKOLIE 010. Make it a Refined Russian by adding some cream.

 

Glas: Tumbler

 

Ingredients:

Ice cubes
2/3 shot Borghetti coffee liqueur
1 1/3 shot STOOKOLIE 010
(Fresh cream)
Star anise

 

Recipe:
Fill a tumbler with ice cubes.
Pour 2/3 shot Borghetti coffee liqueur and 1 1/3 shot Stookolie 010 over the ice.
(Add some fresh cream to create a Refined Russian, a White Russian variation.)
Garnish with star anise in the drink.
